Introducing Two New Local Directors
We’re delighted to be welcoming Gareth Lewis and Paul Mallard to the FIEC staff team in 2023 to serve churches in South Wales and the West Midlands.
For many years, FIEC has benefited from having Local Directors seeking to serve our churches in London and Scotland.
Trevor Archer has been galvanising work and partnership between churches within the M25, while Andy Hunter has been doing similar work – as well as encouraging new churches to join FIEC – across Scotland.
In 2022, FIEC was blessed with financial resources which have been set aside to help us expand the work of our Local Directors. That means, this year we are looking forward to replicating the London and Scotland models of ministry in other parts of the country.
Introducing Gareth and Paul
We’re delighted that Gareth Lewis and Paul Mallard have taken up Local Director roles with FIEC, starting this February. Gareth will serve as Director for South Wales, while Paul will serve as Director for the West Midlands.
Having previously served as FIEC Trust Board members, and with years of experience in pastoral ministry, our prayer is that Gareth and Paul will be able to help FIEC churches in these areas, supporting their day-to-day ministry and galvanising partnership working.
FIEC exists to help independent churches, and we hope that these positions will help to make us more effective “on the ground”, fulfilling a key part of our prayerful planning for the future ministries of FIEC.
In addition to serving us in the West Midlands, Paul Mallard will also chair a Theology Team for FIEC, helping churches and leaders to think through the key theological challenges facing us in 21st Century Britain.
Commenting on his new role, Gareth said: “I long to be useful in serving and supporting; helping and being a resource for gospel churches and for their pastors and leaders.”
Paul added: “I consider it to be an immense privilege to be invited to serve the FIEC and its churches at a time which is both very challenging and immensely encouraging.”
Both these roles are part-time and we hope they will lead to increased help for our churches in the years to come.
Welcoming their arrival to FIEC, National Director John Stevens commented: “I am so pleased that Paul and Gareth have joined our team of FIEC Local Directors.
“Expanding how we are able to serve and support our churches is a key element of our strategy over the next few years, and we are blessed to appoint men with such extensive experience and a pastoral heart to care for churches and their leaders. We are also delighted that Paul will be helping our churches to address the theological challenges of our day.”
Please pray for Paul and Gareth as they begin serving alongside us this year.
