You’re Independent, but you’re not alone.
We are a family of more than 600 Independent local churches with a heart to see the gospel of Jesus making a difference throughout our nation. Will you join us?
FIEC is growing because churches identify with our national vision and doctrinal integrity. Every year we see more churches join us, and we also support new church plants, giving them many of the benefits of full membership as they grow.
Although each church wholeheartedly agrees with our Doctrinal Basis and Ethos Statements, they take a variety of positions on other doctrines and practice.
Our size and diversity enables our churches to work together more effectively in taking the gospel to the people of Britain. We pray for one another, sharing expertise, stories, and resources.
Here are some of the reasons to join.
We are growing leaders
A big part of our strategy is helping leaders, gospel workers, ministry wives, and church employees to better serve their congregations.
We do this through:
- Our national annual Leaders’ Conference.
- A series of Local Conferences.
- Leadership resources.
- The Pastors’ Network.
- Our Directors for Women’s Ministry.
- Advertising ministry jobs at FIEC churches on our jobs noticeboard.
- Help with governance and policies.
- Legal and financial advice.
We are investing in mission and training
We help churches to meet gospel needs by investing in individuals and new ministries.
For example:
- The Hub conference helps those training for ministry or exploring the call, therefore growing the next generation of gospel workers.
- The Training Fund enables individuals to attend Theological College and helps churches to establish training positions for Assistant Pastors and other roles.
- The Mission Fund resources churches for mission initiatives and church planting opportunities.
This type of investment is hard to replicate by isolated churches, even those that are very large. Together we can accomplish what no church could hope to on their own.
We are accountable to our churches
Our National Director oversees the Fellowship but he is answerable to a twelve-man Trust Board elected by affiliated churches.
The churches have to endorse the Trust Board’s candidate for National Director.
What is the fee?
Churches are not required to pay membership fees – our Constitution does not allow it. Instead, we invite you to make an annual donation based on the size of your membership.
Every church receives the same level of service from FIEC however much money it donates and we can testify that God has always met our needs.
What next?
We believe being part of our family is good for gospel work in Britain. Could it be good for your church too?
If your church is Independent and can agree with our Doctrinal Basis and Ethos Statements, we’d love to start a conversation with you about what joining FIEC might look like for your church.
You should definitely begin by reading about who we are, what we do, and our beliefs. We can then send you our Affiliation Brochure and arrange for someone to visit your church to answer your questions and share more of FIEC’s vision.
Just get in touch to discuss more.
Remember, your church may be Independent, but you’re not alone.
If you join us, you will become part of a family of churches who are dependent on God to grow his kingdom and bring glory to Christ.
