Ministry Wives Retreat is FIEC's retreat for wives of men in ministry. It's an opportunity for ministry wives to be refreshed through Bible teaching, training, fellowship, and reflection.
We hope you will return home re-energised and spiritually encouraged in your service for Christ and in your walk with Lord. We believe these three days will be a great blessing to you personally and, as a result, strengthen ministry marriages and enrich local churches.
To get an idea of what the retreat is like, you can read Portia Davies' experience of the 2026 retreat.
Programme
2027's speaker at the Ministry Wives Retreat is Becca Whittaker, Women's Ministry and Development Worker, Swindon Evangelical Church.
Becca will be speaking on “comfort in the wilderness” from the book of Exodus.
Elinor Magowan, our Director for Women's Ministry, will host the retreat to enable you to feel relaxed and refreshed, as well as supported and equipped as we learn from each other.
There will be plenty of opportunity to discuss what we hear in small groups and to pray together. We will also be well served by 10ofThose providing a bookstall for us with selected titles to help you and build you up in your ministry.
Times and venue
The Ministry Wives Retreat will start at 4pm on Wednesday 19 May and end after lunch at 2pm on Friday 21 May.
The retreat will be held at The Hayes Conference Centre in Derbyshire. The Hayes offers us single-occupancy rooms with en-suite facilities, good food, and beautiful surroundings. We have a large meeting room and other rooms to meet in, plus it is easy to get to.
5 reasons to go
Kathryn Tearle shares 5 reasons why ministry wives should go to the retreat.
1. Fellowship with other women
There is no ministry situation or church exactly alike and no ministry path is the same: that is why we need fellowship with other women, to help carry their burdens and have them carry ours.
2. Food
Forget about planning food, cooking and washing up for a couple of days. It’s all provided! There was even afternoon tea.
3. Saturation in the Bible
My soul was thirsty and it was good for me to be saturated in the Bible at the retreat, to ask questions, to hear it read, and to chew on it. I needed to remember the one who offers me streams of living water and to drink.
4. Sleep
If you want to stay up in the evening to chat and meet others, there is time. If you want to go on a walk in the countryside, there is time. If you are like me who needed a nap, there is also time!
5. It encourages your husband
Perhaps your husband, like mine, often feels a weight of sadness that I share the lows of ministry life alongside him. It surprised me what an encouragement it is for him to know that retreats like this exist and that he can facilitate me going on one!

We pray that Ministry Wives Retreat will be used to impact our lives so that we will be drawn closer to the Lord Jesus and encouraged to continue faithfully and joyfully in the work he has given each of us to do.
