Introducing our Director for the North East

We are excited to share that we are expanding our team of Local Directors by appointing Duncan Woods as our Director for the North East.

Over the past couple of years, FIEC has been appointing ‘Local Directors’ in regions across the country.

These are men, experienced in church ministry, who can offer support and advice to pastors and catalyse church partnerships at a local level.

We see this as a key way leaders of FIEC churches can be strengthened and work together to reach Britain for Christ, in a way that the central staff team can’t do.

Director for the North East

Expanding the coverage across the UK, Duncan Woods has now been appointed as Director for the North East, covering the north east region of England.

Duncan has been the pastor of Trinity Church Sunderland for 13 years, having joined in 2013 as part of a revitalisation of what was Sunderland Free Church. He is also on the steering committee of the North East Gospel Partnership and is a Crosslands tutor in the region.

He will be serving FIEC in this role one day a week, seconded from his ministry at Trinity Church, and joins a team of thirteen local directors, led by our Associate National Director Graham Beynon.

Graham said:

“Our local directors provide significant help to our churches in support, advice, and catalysing gospel initiatives, so, I'm delighted that Duncan is joining our team. He brings lots experience in local church ministry in the North East and so is ideal for this role.”

Duncan reflected on his new role:

“There have been many blessings and encouragements across the north east in recent years, with lots of examples of fruitful partnership for the gospel.  We pray that this opportunity to serve FIEC churches for a day a week might further that cause.”
