Rachel Sloan Takes Up Role at Charlotte Chapel
Rachel Sloan, one of our Directors for Women’s Ministry, will be leaving FIEC in July 2026 to serve full-time at Charlotte Chapel in Edinburgh.
Serving in this role since 2020, Rachel has helped to develop our network and has been pivotal in continuing the work of Thrive, our annual retreat for women in ministry. Rachel has also run Bible handling training for women in ministry and supported countless ministry workers in churches across FIEC.
We are delighted that Rachel has been offered a full-time pastoral role at Charlotte Chapel, her home church in Edinburgh. Though we will be sad to see her leave FIEC, Rachel does so with our immense gratitude for all she has achieved in the Lord’s kindness, and we commend her to this new role in the local church.
Elinor Magowan, who shares the Director for Women’s Ministry role with Rachel, said:
“Rachel’s Bible handling sessions have been hugely appreciated by ministry workers and she has offered huge amounts of support to women serving in our churches. She has contributed significantly to the work and ministry of FIEC.”
Looking back on her time with FIEC, Rachel commented:
“Serving at the FIEC has been a real blessing, and I am deeply thankful for the opportunities I have had to teach God’s word and the relationships that have been formed along the way. It has been a privilege to see the ongoing growth and development of ministry by women and amongst women in our churches.”
National Director John Stevens added that Rachel leaves with the prayerful thanks of FIEC for all she has achieved over her six years with the Fellowship:
“I was thrilled when Rachel was appointed as our Director for Women's Ministry. She combined astute theological acumen with practical experience as a church women’s worker. She modelled and encouraged a biblical complementarianism which empowered, equipped, and encouraged women to use their gifts to serve the church, including training women to be better teachers of God’s word.
“Rachel has helped shape a positive culture for women’s ministry within FIEC, supported many women’s workers in FIEC churches, helped church leadership teams to support women in ministry more effectively, and overseen the growth of FIEC’s Thrive retreat. We will very much miss her, but wish her all the very best for the future as she returns to serve full-time at Charlotte Chapel.”
We will soon be looking for a woman to take up the role of Director for Women's Ministry. Look out on our jobs page for more details.
