Introducing our Director for the East Midlands

We are pleased to announce that George Hawkins will serve as our Local Director for churches in the East Midlands.

One of the ways the FIEC is providing help to churches is through ‘Local Directors’. These are men, experienced in church ministry, who can give time to the leaders and churches in a specific region of the country.

In 2026, we are seeking to increase the coverage across the UK of this regional support.

With that in mind, we are delighted that George Hawkins has been appointed to serve as Director for the East Midlands.

George was, until July 2025, the senior pastor of Beeston Free Church in Nottingham. He first moved to Beeston Free as student, before spending fifteen years working as an actuary in Southampton. After training for ministry in the USA, he came back to Nottingham in 2012, serving as assistant pastor and then senior pastor.

He will be using his ministry experience and knowledge of the area to serve church leaders in the East Midlands for two days a week.

He joins a team of eleven local directors, led by our Associate National Director Graham Beynon. He said:

“I’m delighted that George is able to serve our churches in the East Midlands. His past ministry experience and time in Nottingham makes him ideal for this role and we look forward to seeing how God will use him.

George commented on his new role:

“I'm very thankful to have the opportunity to serve FIEC churches in the East Midlands. I'm really looking forward to hearing what the Lord is doing among our churches and to supporting pastors, leaders, and churches in whatever way I can.”
