Announcing our New Director for London

We are excited to announce that Johnny Prime will be our new Director for London, starting in 2024.

Having served as FIEC Training Director before pioneering the Director for London role, Trevor Archer is standing down in February 2024 to be succeeded by Johnny Prime.

Johnny served as pastor of Enfield Evangelical Free Church for 21 years before serving at FIEC as Associate National Director, Head of Local Ministries, and most recently Director for Pastoral Support.

Johnny will continue the work Trevor has started, developing relationships with FIEC churches and church leaders in London, galvanising the work and ministry of the gospel in the city while fostering healthy relationships of mutual support.

He will also be further developing relationships with other evangelical church networks and groups in London to galvanise cross-network partnerships to benefit the gospel work already underway. He will be a regular face at events across London, including, of course, our London Leaders’ Gatherings and Local Conferences.

In this next phase of our work in London, Johnny will also be looking to recruit a team of gospel workers from London FIEC churches to develop the support and growth of churches in the city.

Johnny joins a growing team of Local Directors based around the country, guided by our Head of Local Ministries Graham Beynon. He will serve alongside Directors for Scotland, Yorkshire, South Wales, the West Midlands, and Suffolk.

Home to nearly nine million people and some 80 FIEC churches, London is vitally important to our vision to be Independent churches working together to reach Britain for Christ.

We hope, resources allowing, to appoint a national network of Local Directors covering the whole country over the coming years.

Johnny Prime said: “Having lived 31 of my 61 years in London, returning feels like going home. Trevor has done a great job, and it will be a privilege to follow in his footsteps. I look forward to serving the FIEC pastors and churches in London.

“Despite having previously served in Enfield, I will have a huge amount to learn about the wider London scene and look forward to reconnecting with those I already know and connecting with those I don't yet know. Our confidence is that the good news of our Lord Jesus is still the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.”

John Stevens, FIEC National Director, added: “I am so thankful for the work that Trevor Archer has done to galvanise and connect our churches in London. And I am delighted that, as he retires, Johnny Prime will be taking this work forwards as our new Director for London.

“We are so thankful that Johnny has been restored to health after his heart surgery last year and is able to serve in this role. He has vast experience of ministry in London, strong relationships with many of the FIEC churches and pastors, and has a clear vision for ways to strengthen and grow our work and witness in the city.”
