Mission Director Appointed for A Passion for Life
A Passion for Life has announced the appointment of Nick McQuaker as the organisation’s first Ministry Director.
Since 2010, A Passion for Life has mobilised churches for a period of intensive evangelism and mission on a four-year cycle. It has produced resources to equip and support local churches, their leaders and congregations, in evangelism.
Following the success of the last mission in 2022, the organisation felt that it would be beneficial to continue the work of encouraging and equipping local church evangelism on a permanent basis, whilst still coordinating more intensive periods of coordinated evangelism on a regular basis, and to appoint a full-time Ministry Director to fulfil this vision.
FIEC has been instrumental in enabling A Passion for Life to make this new appointment. We had earmarked funds for the appointment of a new ‘Director of Evangelism’ for FIEC, but the synergies with the vision of A Passion for Life meant that we felt it would be better to use some of those resources to pump prime this new role.
Many FIEC churches are already involved in A Passion for Life, and we are keen to see a multiplication of gospel work that will benefit our churches rather than pursue an unnecessary duplication.
Nick has served as Director of the Sussex Gospel Partnership since 2010 and prior to that as a pastor of Christ Church, Haywards Heath - which is affiliated to FIEC. He has also worked for the past three years in the role of Development Officer for the Regional Gospel Partnerships and served as co-chair of A Passion for Life until Spring of this year. He has extensive experience in training others and working with local church leaders from across a wide range of evangelical churches.
He will take up the role of Ministry Director part time from 1 September as he hands-over his responsibilities with the Sussex Gospel Partnership, then will work full time for A Passion for Life from 1 January 2024.
Spencer Shaw, the Chair of Trustees for A Passion for Life, said: “We are grateful to the Lord for raising up Nick with his unique combination of gifts, vision and experience to develop the ministry of A Passion for Life into this exciting next phase of encouraging and supporting churches for a lifetime of evangelism.”
Nick McQuaker said: “It has been a tremendous and humbling privilege to see the Lord at work over the past three years as the vision for A Passion for Life was revived and churches came together to proclaim the good news of the Lord Jesus in the 2022 national mission. I look forward to working with church leaders as we seek to find the most effective ways of continually engaging the diverse communities of the UK with the gospel and look ahead to another national mission in 2026.”
John Stevens, FIEC National Director, said: "I am delighted by this new partnership with A Passion for Life. FIEC is committed to encouraging bold, contextually appropriate, and effective local church evangelism in all our churches, and this is exactly what A Passion for Life will help to do. We are thrilled that Nick has accepted this role, and we will benefit greatly from his experience and deep knowledge of our constituency. We pray that many churches in our nation will be helped by A Passion for Life, and that as a result more people come to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus."
