Evangelist/Pastor
Southern Cross Evangelical Church
Southern Cross Evangelical Church is a small local, friendly Church family based in Portslade, Hove, near Brighton and has been in the town for over one hundred years. We currently have around 15-20 in attendance at our morning service and 8-10 in attendance at our evening service. Our aim is as it always has been to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the Portslade and surrounding area.
Portslade has around 20,000 people living in the area, it is a bustling and vibrant community with people from all nationalities and walks of life. There are many opportunities to start new activities for the community.
Southern Cross, although small, is very busy and active. We hold two services each Sunday and a prayer meeting or Bible study once a week and also run a youth group, affiliated to Urban Saints (formerly Crusaders) weekly.
We are a Church that is missionary minded and have close links with several missionary societies, working both here in the UK and abroad and we have a long-standing relationship with a Church in Kenya.
The premises are currently used on a daily basis by a secular Pre-School (Southern Cross Community Pre-School). We work closely with them, and our replacement Pastor would be encouraged to continue to be involved.
Doctrinal Distinctives:
i. We hold a literal six-day creationist position.
ii. Baptist by practice.
iii. non-charismatic.
iv Reformed.
Salary: Although we are a small Church, by God's goodness we are in a position to pay a realistic stipend subject to discussion depending on skills, experience and housing requirements. We own a 2 bedroom Manse with a study and in the locality which could be available if accommodation is required, the manse is currently rented out.
