Women's Ministry Lead

Welling Evangelical Free Church is looking to hire a full-time Women's Ministry Lead. Our church is a vibrant and diverse church revitalisation in Southeast London that has grown from 8 to 200 in the past seven years. Throughout this time, we have seen many people come to know Christ and be obedient in following Him in baptism and discipleship. We are now looking to expand our growing staff with the addition of a godly woman who can not only be the lead of the women of the church but also fill another area in which they are gifted.
The Women's Ministry Lead provides vision, leadership, and oversight to all areas of ministry to women at Welling Church. This role exists to help women grow in their relationship with Christ, connect authentically with one another, and serve faithfully within the church and community. The director will cultivate a culture of discipleship, belonging, and spiritual growth among women of all ages and life stages.
Required Skills
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Vision & Leadership
- Develop and implement a clear vision and strategy for women's ministry that aligns with the overall mission of Welling Church.
- Prayerfully lead and inspire women to pursue spiritual growth and Christlike living.
- Recruit, train, and equip volunteer leaders and teams to serve effectively in various aspects of the ministry. - Discipleship & Spiritual Formation
- Create opportunities for Bible studies, mentoring, and small groups that encourage deep spiritual growth.
- Identify and develop resources that meet the spiritual needs of women in different seasons of life.
- Encourage intergenerational relationships and mentorship among women. - Events & Programs
- Plan and oversee retreats, conferences, outreach events, and gatherings that foster community and faith development.
- Coordinate logistics, communications, and volunteers for all women's ministry events.
- Collaborate with other ministry areas to integrate women's ministry initiatives into the life of the church. - Care & Community
- Provide spiritual support, prayer, and guidance to women as needed.
- Develop systems of care and connection for women experiencing life transitions, challenges, or crises.
- Promote inclusivity and belonging for women from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. - Administration & Communication
- Manage the women's ministry budget and ensure responsible stewardship of resources.
- Communicate regularly with the congregation about upcoming opportunities and initiatives.
- Maintain an active presence across appropriate communication channels (e.g., church website, social media, newsletters).
Qualifications
- A mature, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and commitment to the mission and values of Welling Church.
- Demonstrated leadership and experience in women's ministry, discipleship, or pastoral care.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build healthy relationships and foster unity.
- Proven ability to recruit, develop, and empower volunteers.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Experience working with people from multicultural backgrounds.
- Formal theological or ministry training (preferably master's level).
