Co-Pastor
Cuckfield Baptist Church
Cuckfield Baptist Church is a growing Bible-teaching church of about 100 people of all ages and stages in Cuckfield, Mid-Sussex. We are a warm, independent, conservative-evangelical Baptist church and are members of the Sussex Gospel Partnership, FIEC, and Affinity.
We would like to appoint a Co-Pastor to work alongside Will Cockram and our other elders to provide leadership, and to help with the growing needs of the church as we seek to make disciples for Christ.
The Co-Pastor will be a man with a Christ-centred conviction to lead, mature godly character and the gifts and graces necessary for the role as detailed below. He will have completed adequate theological training and have proven himself in ministry in a gospel church. He will agree with the church's statements of belief, as well as the FIEC's statement of faith and ethos statements - https://fiec.org.uk/who-we-are/beliefs.
He will develop a good working relationship with the current Pastor, other elders, church staff, and team leaders. He will be given increased responsibility in areas of ministry that particularly suit his gifting, but will be involved in the general leadership of the church at every level. Our desire is to have a man minister in the way God made him and which glorifies God. In particular this includes:
1. Leadership
The Co-Pastor will have a full share in shaping and implementing the church's vision to make Christ known and make disciples. He will be an Elder and Trustee, providing leadership and contributing fully to Elder's Meetings. He will be expected to contribute fully to discussions about the church's mission and strategic development.
2. Pastoral care
The Co-Pastor will share the pastoral oversight of church members, and take a lead in facilitating aspects of more private care as appropriate in conjunction with the current Pastor and elders. We anticipate the associate pastor possessing a high level of emotional and cultural intelligence in sharing biblical wisdom with God's people.
3. Training
The Co-Pastor will use his skills and resources to help equip church members for works of service. He will share with the current Pastor and others in preparing and delivering training.
4. Preaching
The Co-Pastor will share all aspects of the public preaching and teaching ministry of the church (Sundays and midweek) with the current pastor and other elders.
5. Evangelism
The Co-Pastor will contribute wholeheartedly to the evangelistic outreach of the church. He will be Gospel-hearted in his personal life and set an example to the church of personal witness. His level of involvement in specific outreach activities will vary and play to his strengths.
