Important Requirements

Applications can only be considered from those who are UK citizens or who otherwise have a right to work in the UK.

You will need to be able to declare wholehearted acceptance of the FIEC doctrinal basis and agreement with the FIEC ethos statements.

The Associate Pastor will be a man with a Christ-centred conviction to lead, mature godly character, and the gifts and graces necessary for the role as detailed below. He will have completed adequate theological training and have proven himself in ministry in a gospel church. He will agree with the church's statements of belief, as well as the FIEC's statement of faith and ethos statements - https://fiec.org.uk/who-we-are/beliefs.He will develop a good working relationship with the Pastor, other elders, church staff, and team leaders. He will be given increased responsibility in areas of ministry that particularly suit his gifting - which we anticipate to be in areas of pastoral care and discipleship - but will be involved in the general leadership of the church at every level. Our desire is to have a man minister in the way God made him and which glorifies God. In particular this includes:

• Leadership - The Associate Pastor will have a full share in shaping and implementing the church's vision to make Christ known and make disciples. He will be an Elder and Trustee, contributing fully to Elder's meetings. He will be expected to contribute fully to discussions about the church's mission and strategic development.

• Pastoral care - The Associate Pastor will share the pastoral oversight of church members, and take a lead in facilitating aspects of more private care as appropriate in conjunction with the Pastor. We anticipate the Associate Pastor possessing a high level of emotional and cultural intelligence in sharing biblical wisdom with God's people.

• Training - The Associate Pastor will use his skills and resources to help equip church members for works of service. He will share with the Pastor and others in preparing and delivering training, but this will be a particular area of responsibility for him.

• Preaching - The Associate Pastor will share part of the public preaching and teaching ministry of the church. Even though the role will focus more on pastoral care and training, we anticipate that the associate will preach once a month (and sometimes twice), and share in all aspects of the Sunday ministry (we also have a 5:30pm service which is a mixture of training and prayer).

• Evangelism - The Associate Pastor will contribute wholeheartedly to the evangelistic outreach of the church. He will be gospel- hearted in his personal life and set an example to the church of personal witness. His level of involvement in specific outreach activities will vary and play to his strengths.

Required Skills

A committed Christian with a mature faith in Christ and proven experience of gospel church-based ministry.

• A gifted and experienced pastor and Bible-teacher

• A team player who is excited about and has a proven ability to disciple, equip, and train members and leaders.

• Has a strong level of emotional intelligence.

• Is in agreement with our statement of faith & church handbook (we practise believer's baptism and communion for baptised believers).

We are open to the possibility of the Associate Pastor being part-time (3-4 days) due to involvement in another ministry. The Associate Pastor would be involved in all aspects of the church's life and ministry. All applicants need to be UK citizens, or have the right to work in the UK.
