Assistant Pastor for Evangelism
Job Purpose:
To serve the Lord Jesus Christ through Word based ministry in the local church especially regarding outreach to the local community.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will work alongside the elders and the pastor to shepherd the flock through Word ministry and prayer.

The special focus of the post is on outreach to the local community.

The precise nature of how to go about outreach in the local community will no doubt develop but it is envisaged that the successful candidate will…

Equip the church to be bold and effective in personal witness, through teaching and preaching.
Facilitate the church's outreach by further developing the evangelistic thread in the church's programme.
Do the work of an evangelist, leading by example in personal witness and speaking at evangelistic events.

Our long-term aim is to be in the position to plant another church in the locality to serve the expanding town of Felixstowe.

Although we envisage this as a full-time position, a part-time arrangement is also possible.

Salary/stipend for the suitably qualified candidate will be in line with national pay scales for Beginning Teachers (ie starting at £30-£35K pa) pro rata.

This will include a six month probation period.

The role will be at the very heart of the next steps for Bethesda Baptist Church and will provide opportunities for the successful candidate to develop their ministry.
 

Required Skills

Core Attributes:

A love for the Lord Jesus Christ as evidenced in a godly lifestyle.
A heart to see people saved and growing in Christ.
A sound understanding of the Bible and its message.

Education and training:

Educated to first degree level.
Formal theological/pastoral training would be ideal.

Experience:

Service in a local church
Expository preaching
Organising/assisting in outreach events
Successfully working as part of a team
