Our 11:00 am service time was set so as to allow for people who have to rise early throughout the week and then don't get up quite so early during the weekend.
Typically our song/hymn mix is one whereby we try to strike a balance of using more recent material as well as not losing touch with the great repository of hymns that have passed the test of time.
We usually will have something for the children in the earlier part of the service and then a Sunday school gets going in the room directly behind the main hall whilst the preaching goes on.
The children re-join during the singing of the final hymn or song.
Our evening service at 6pm is a little shorter, more discussional and allows a bit more time for focussed prayer.
