Above Bar Church is a large city centre church in the heart of Southampton. It's a community of God's people who are committed to loving God, following Jesus, and sharing hope. It has been a Bible-centred witness to Christ on the main thoroughfare for 140 years, and is currently in the process of refreshing its building.
The congregations comprise people of a wide range of ages, backgrounds and ethnicities. There are thriving children's, youth, and student ministries. Over recent years, we have developed an exciting social action ministry among the needy of Southampton, which includes a Christians Against Poverty debt centre as well as Sunday and midweek groups.
Mission, both local and international, is a vital part of our DNA. Locally, we are developing missional communities; internationally, the church supports 10 individuals, couples and families working in a wide range of contexts and ministries.
