Serious Incident Reporting

All charities are expected to report serious incidents to the Charity Commission, so trustees must be able to identify incidents and respond appropriately.

Serious incidents are those incidents which result in, or risk,

  • harm to people,
  • loss of money,
  • damage to property, or
  • harm to the church's work or reputation.

Trustees are required to report such incidents to the Charity Commission and is it important that trustees are able to recognise such events and have a process for responding appropriately.
