Important Requirements

You will need to be able to declare wholehearted acceptance of the FIEC doctrinal basis and agreement with the FIEC ethos statements.

Reach South is a growing partnership of reformed, baptistic, independent, gospel-hearted churches in the South of England seeking to work together to strengthen each other, equip individuals for ministry and under God grow the kingdom by planting more churches for the glory of God.

All Reach South churches are members of the FIEC and accept the FIEC Statement of Faith as a minimum doctrinal standard. With churches now established in Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester and Salisbury, we now seek under God to establish a new church in Chichester. We therefore seek an individual who could lead this work as planting pastor.

We are open-minded about the profile of the person, but our general expectation is that he will have:

  • Proven godly character
  • Commitment to prayer and the word as fundamental to ministry
  • Formal theological education
  • Convictions that mesh with existing Reach South churches
  • Significant pastoral experience
  • High degree of competence in preaching, shepherding, evangelism and managing people
  • Aptitude for leading a pioneering work

Reach South is an organic, relational partnership. Reach South planters normally therefore spend time on the staff of an existing Reach South church for a period. The timescale is likely to involve moving to the Chichester area in Autumn 2024 ahead of a formal church launch in Summer / Autumn 2025.

If your appetite is whetted, contact Orlando Saer via the Christ Church Southampton contact page to arrange an informal phone chat.
