Important Requirements

Ryedale Evangelical Church has recently celebrated its 40th anniversary, having been planted in 1983 as a joint venture under the guidance of York and Whitby Evangelical Churches.

Meeting in rented accommodation for about 32 years we are now resident in Middleton Chapel, (an ex Methodist Chapel built in 1883, and 1 mile west of Pickering) which was purchased in 2015 and completely refurbished. There are 5 members and several faithful adherents, Sunday worship during the winter months fluctuates between 10 and 12 people, there are no children at present. Established in a beautiful rural environment there are many tourists between March and October, and this means there are invariably visitors worshipping with us each week, sometimes doubling our numbers. Many visitors return year after year and are well known to us as friends and believers. Since you must travel 20+ miles in any direction to find a like-minded fellowship, this work is of vital significance for the 40,000+ people who live in Ryedale. Without us many will perish in their ignorance!

We are actively involved in local evangelism, distributing the ‘Good News’ paper in Middleton monthly, then out witnessing in Pickering Market Place from Easter till October.
