Pastor

Letchworth Baptist Church is currently in an interregnum and we seek to appoint a full-time pastor as a member of our eldership team. 

We are a small church in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, a town of about 34,000. We are strategically located in a residential area, on the boundary of an estate built in the early 1920s and a neighbourhood of more modern, privately owned properties. We are rebuilding our relationships with the community and have a vision for sharing God's love and the gospel with our neighbourhood through both word and deed.

The church is led by an eldership team in collaborative partnership and mutual accountability. We seek to appoint a man as a full-time pastor within the eldership team, whose leadership style is facilitative and modelled on the servant-hearted teaching and example of Christ.

For twenty years the church has uniquely had both English speaking and Cantonese speaking congregations and services. The church is also blessed with a thriving parent and toddlers group which, along with other activities, is generating significant, new contacts and good relationships.

In the fulfilment of our church vision, an essential focus for the pastor will be 'church building' in terms of leading the church in evangelism, disciple-making and the equipping of members for ministry. The dual-cultural nature of the church will also benefit from cross-cultural experience. (The elder responsible for the pastoral care of the Chinese congregation expects to retire by the end of 2025 and we seek the Lord for his wisdom regarding its care).

Strong interpersonal skills are vital and the community focus would also benefit from someone who has been in secular employment before entering the ministry and is thus more able to identify with people living around the church.

Letchworth Baptist Church is a Charitable Incorporated Organization and the elders are also its trustees, therefore, candidates must be both eligible and willing to serve in this capacity. They must also wholeheartedly accept the Church's and the FIEC statements of faith and ethical statements and be eligible to work in the UK. A DBS check will also be required.
