Pastoral care is not just about offering a cup of tea and a listening ear (though of course it might involve those things). We want churches and their leaders to feel genuinely supported in the work that God has called them to do. The care of churches and pastors is a gospel issue.

In 1 Timothy 3, the Apostle Paul describes the church as “the pillar and foundation of the truth”. It doesn’t draw attention to itself; it displays the beauty and glory of the truth as it is in Jesus. And good news about Jesus is best declared and demonstrated by holy, healthy, happy churches.

The care of churches and pastors is a gospel issue.

The central focus of our Pastoral work is the spiritual health and wisdom of pastors and leadership teams. Christ-like leaders are crucial for nurturing biblical churches. It’s the leaders who are responsible for directing and coordinating those under their care, stimulating effective gospel ministry that glorifies the Lord Jesus.

There are two key ways that we aim to care for leaders as a Fellowship. The first way is through the development of ministry networks and relationships. The second is through the dissemination of good ministry practice; sharing the knowledge, advice and experience that no single person – or church – has. Of course, by nature some of this work is reactive and responsive, but we’re striving to be proactive as we take the initiative to care for one another.
