The Training Fund
The Training Fund gives grants to churches and individuals to help grow gospel workers.
The Training Fund exists to help provide the necessary resources to train and equip men and women for paid gospel ministry in FIEC churches. It is therefore not ordinarily available to churches outside the FIEC, nor available for roles in which training is not the central focus.
We welcome applications for a wide variety of training positions, such as pastors, church planters, women’s workers, student workers, youth and children, and cross-cultural workers. The stipulation is simply that it is for ministry posts where the focus is the ministry of the word of God rather than administrative or organisational posts.
Please note that the Training Fund is dependent on being constantly replenished through churches and donors, so the amount in the Fund varies considerably at any given time. All grants are therefore dependent on there being adequate resources in the Fund (to date, praise God, there always has been!).
The Training Grant Committee meets twice a year. The deadlines are as follows:
- 31st March for consideration at the May meeting for funding in September.
- 31st October for consideration in late November for funding in January.
- Applications are invited from churches with regards to two-year appointments (up to a maximum of £15,000 per year) of trainee gospel workers across a breadth of ministry. The grant will not ordinarily be more than 50% of the cost of the post.
Any grant from the FIEC Training Fund will normally not exceed 15% of the church’s total annual budget. Furthermore, we want to be satisfied that existing workers are properly financially supported and that the church’s plan for the post is realistic and sustainable for the period envisaged.
- Applications are invited from individuals with regards to grants for training (up to a maximum of two years and a maximum of £7,500 per year).
If you have questions about the Fund or would like an application form for you or your church then please get in touch.
There has never been a clear 'route' into ministry for men and women from FIEC Churches, let alone a means of fellowship, networking and identity for those wishing to be trained for Independent church ministry. Now there is: it’s called The Hub Conference.
