The FIEC Leaders’ Conferences 2021
The ongoing uncertainty around Covid-19 means we’ve taken the difficult decision to cancel our Leaders’ Conference in November. But we’re planning a series of in-person events instead – will you join us?
If you’ve been with us for the Leaders’ Conference in Torquay over recent years, you’ll know that social distancing is impossible.
We’ve regularly had more than 900 people at the Rivera International Conference Centre, but it means standing room only in the main auditorium, a packed 10ofThose bookstall, and cosy tables at mealtimes. All of that makes for a fantastic atmosphere at our annual event – but it also means it’s not exactly Covid-secure.
The government have stated their intention to lift all Covid-19 restrictions by 21 June in England, but they have been deliberately tight-lipped on things like indoor mask-wearing and social distancing. Will these still persist post 21 June?
If they do, it makes our Conference impossible to run in its usual form.
Given that uncertainty, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel our national event in November. We cannot take the financial risk that we might not be able to go ahead.
But we are still planning to gather leaders together in November.
The 2021 FIEC Leaders’ Conferences
Instead of one national conference, we plan to run five in-person day-conferences across Britain in November. They are designed to distil some of the great benefits of the Leaders’ Conference into a shorter space of time.
As usual, we will come together to hear from God’s word, to be equipped for day-to-day ministry, and to socialise with one another. These day conferences will be fully catered with a long lunch break and will allow free time for men and women in ministry to catch up with one another. Of course, there will also be a 10ofThose bookstall!
Our hope is that the venues we have chosen are big enough to manage social distancing - if that’s still a requirement - but also give us the flexibility to cancel at short notice without the charity incurring huge costs.
Book your place
So, we’d love to see you in November for the 2021 Leaders’ Conferences. We’ve tried to choose venues that are accessible by car or train but recognise some will have a longer journey than others.
- Wales: Highfields Church, Cardiff, Monday 8 November
- Midlands: Monyhull Church, Birmingham, Wednesday 10 November
- London: East London Tabernacle, London, Friday 12 November
- Scotland: Venue TBC, Monday 15 November
- North of England: City Church Manchester, Wednesday 17 November
The five conferences will all have the same content. You can find out more and book on the Leaders' Conferences 2021 page.
