Connecting Diverse Churches: Explore Partnerships with Medhurst Ministries

Could your church partner with a church in deprived area of Britain?

One of the things we try to prioritise as a Fellowship is helping churches to connect with those in very different parts of the country. As our founder EJ Poole-Connor said, we want to be an “association of mutual helpfulness.”

A lot of that happens at our national conferences and gatherings, but we are also keen to be proactive in helping churches to build partnerships with others they may not otherwise get to know.

So, what does that look like?

Well, churches that belong to FIEC all have the same core beliefs, but that doesn’t mean they all look the same. They often have different ministry philosophies and are made up of different demographics. The communities FIEC churches are reaching will always be diverse.

But because our churches share the same foundational convictions, there is much they can learn from each other, and support one another with.

Partnership Day

That’s why I am delighted that we are partnering with Medhurst Ministries to help promote partnerships between churches in different social contexts.

Medhurst has been set up to serve churches in deprived communities and we would love to see FIEC churches in more affluent communities partnering with them. Most Medhurst churches are also affiliated to FIEC, so you’ll be partnering with churches that share your core beliefs.

With that in mind, we’re hosting a partnership day at our head office to help build these links. Would your church be interested in partnering with a church in a deprived community for mutual support and encouragement?

A small team from Medhurst will join us at the FIEC office in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, on Tuesday 19 November 2024 to present their vision to support Independent churches serving these areas.

If you are interested in partnering with a Medhurst church, the team will be here to help you to build these partnerships.

There are already some of these in operation – for example, watch or listen to the podcast we recorded about the links between Banstead Community Church and New Life Church in Middlesbrough.

Partnerships like these are one way we can be involved in a national mission, supporting the work and ministry of churches looking to make Christ known across the country.
