Watch & Learn
The Hub Conference is designed to help those on their journey into vocational ministry, but we don’t want the benefits of The Hub to be limited to a single weekend in January! Trevor Archer explains how we’re making the great advice from The Hub available to a wider audience.
Bookings for The Hub Conference 2016 opened this week. It’s been running every year since 2012 and one of the features is the wide choice of seminars on offer to deal with practical topics related to training and ministry.
At every conference delegates have been able to choose three seminars out of a menu of eighteen on offer. Therein lies the problem! Limited time means that folk missed out on a whole range of great topics.
So what could we do about it? The Hub Committee came up with a solution – Hub Videos.
These three to four minute videos are given by men and women experienced in their area of ministry. While they can’t cover the same depth as a seminar, they can provide an overview and introduction to the topic.
In 2013 numerous short videos were filmed and released at a rate of about one a month throughout 2014. These covered issues such as: Why do church based training? Three things I wish I’d known about gospel ministry; Ministry in Cities; What is an Evangelist and Jane McNabb’s very popular - A Pastor’s Wife: Help or Hindrance?
You can check out these and many more on the Hub Video playlist.
Over the summer we spent a day filming the next batch of Hub Videos with the help of Richard Underwood, Ali Davies, Hilary Wilkinson, Nathan Howard and Annie Leggett. We are looking forward to rolling these videos out in the coming months as they will become the latest additions to a library of resources that we believe are a great help to churches and individuals involved in training for gospel ministry. You can watch the first one below.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway already for The Hub Conference 2016 at our usual venue, The De Vere Hotel near Milton Keynes from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th January 2016. We are delighted that Paul Mallard the pastor of Widcombe Baptist Church in Bath and author of several books including Staying Fresh will be our speaker.
And of course they’ll be even more seminars to choose from – 17 this year. These will include Ministry, Marriage and Family; Mapping the Journey into Ministry; Emotional Intelligence; Global Disciple Making and Cross Cultural ministry and Women teaching the Bible to Women.
I feel another batch of Hub Videos coming on already!
