Sing Scotland

Our friends at 20schemes are partnering with Getty Music and Desiring God for ‘Sing Scotland’, a day conference and evening concert in Edinburgh this June. We asked Katie Johnson to tell us more.

We’re passionate about reaching Scotland’s poorest people with the good news of Jesus. At 20schemes, we believe the local church is the answer.

In June we are going to be hosting the Sing Scotland conference at Charlotte Chapel in Edinburgh. It will be a day conference gathering church leaders and musicians who want to become better equipped to lead their congregations in sung worship.

The day will examine what God demands of his church when they gather: preach the word; equip the saints; sing praises; pray without ceasing; make Jesus known.

John Piper, Keith Getty and Mez McConnell are among the main speakers, while the seminars in the afternoon will be led by church and ministry leaders from different contexts. Early bird registration for the conference is £30 but tickets will increase in price on 1 May.

Matthew Spandler-Davison, Executive Director of 20schemes commented:

“What we preach and what we sing in many ways affects the health of our churches. 20schemes is committed to seeing healthy churches reaching the schemes of Scotland. I can’t think of two men who are better placed to teach us in the area of preaching and singing than John Piper and Keith Getty.

“So, we are thrilled to have them come to Scotland for a day conference and an evening concert. Our prayer is that this will be a special moment for the Scottish church as we come together from across our land in order to worship and to be equipped to lead Christ-centred worship gatherings.”

The evening concert will be held at the Usher Hall as a part of the 2019 UK Tour of Keith & Kristyn Getty and their band of virtuoso Irish and Bluegrass folk musicians. John Piper will join the stage for a time of devotion from God’s word.

Both the day conference and the evening concert will help to raise funds for 20schemes. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear about the work of 20schemes and help them in their mission of bringing the light of the gospel to Scotland’s poorest.
