Money for Your Mission

We have more than £800,000 that we want to give away to our churches for mission. Here’s all you need to know about applying to the fund.

We’ve all sat in church meetings where we’ve dreamed dreams about mission and church planting. But there always seems to be a stumbling block. How are we going to pay for it?

That’s where our Mission Fund comes in.

Thanks to generous donations to the Fellowship, we are now able to make significant sums of money available to our churches. So, whether you are looking to church plant, revitalise an existing work or grow the evangelistic witness of your church, we could have the solution to that financial stumbling block.

This money has been given to FIEC specifically to spend on mission. We don’t want to hold on to it – we want to use it in ways that will see men, women and children across the Great Britain hearing the good news about the Lord Jesus.

What is the Fund for?

The fund you can apply for is split into three ‘pots’. Let’s take each of them in turn.

1. Church Planting

One of the ways in which FIEC churches have been active in gospel mission is by planting churches in areas where there is little or no gospel witness. We want to encourage churches to start new churches and some of the Mission Fund is available exclusively for this purpose.

You may want a worker to support the plant. Or perhaps you need start-up money for equipment or premises? We want to support you in your church planting endeavours.

2. Church Revitalisation

We’ve been overjoyed to see FIEC churches seeking to revitalise struggling gospel works across our nation. Increasingly, churches are seeing this as a key part of their mission strategy alongside planting churches.

Does your church need to support a worker for a revitalisation project? Perhaps you need help with some much-needed improvements to a tired building to make it fit for purpose? The Church Revitalisation pot of the Mission Fund could help.

3. Church Growth

There are plenty of times when churches are considering plans and projects to reach their communities for Christ but they haven’t got the money to make these plans a reality. The Church Growth pot of the Mission Fund is designed to offer support to churches with mission activities outside of planting and revitalisation.

For example, you may wish to appoint an evangelist. Or perhaps you want to work with other churches on a mission week, or something similar? Maybe there has always been a desire to open your building as a community café?

The Church Growth pot of the Mission Fund can’t solve all these problems, but it may enable you to make a start and to continue to grow God’s Kingdom where he has placed you.

How can my church apply?

There is a link to download the application form at the end of this article. You will need to apply by Friday 27 September and bids will be considered in the autumn. We plan to distribute funds to churches in early 2020.

Each pot of money will be overseen by a grants-awarding team made up of members of our Ministry Team and workers from our churches. Each team will make recommendations for the distribution of the money to our Senior Leadership Team.

We want this money to advance the gospel in our nation. However, we recognise that £800,000 could be allocated very quickly. Indeed, if every FIEC church applied, it would work out at just £1,300 per church!

With that in mind, we would love to see considered, costed plans and proposals that request meaningful financial help to churches for mission. Churches should demonstrate how their plans will lead to increased missional activity and gospel impact in their communities.

While we’re keen to receive applications from all types of FIEC churches serving in all types of communities, we especially want to support work reaching into rural areas and economically-deprived communities (of course, a rural community may also be deprived). We are also especially keen to support work in places with large ethnic minority or immigrant populations.

The sooner we can give this money away, the better. So get applying!
