Leaders’ Conference 2019: Seminars
We’ve got a brilliant line-up of seminars planned for the conference this year. Phil Topham outlines the choices.
Last week we gathered all the speakers for this year’s Leaders’ Conference at our offices in Market Harborough. It was a great time to get to know one another and to pray together for the ministry that will take place this coming November.
There are still some seminars to add for our Tuesday afternoon slot, but we’ve now got seminar speakers finalised for the two main seminar sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
This year, we’ve booked more rooms at the TLH Toorak Hotel which is opposite the Riviera Centre as well as two rooms at the adjacent Torre Abbey. This means we can offer more seminars than ever before to serve our main theme of Leadership at Every Level.
As well as speaking to us from the main stage, Mark Dever will host two seminars, helping us to think through training elders and preachers. Meanwhile Colin Smith will explore leading a church in evangelism.
For the first time this year, we have got seminar streams for both women in ministry and ministry wives. Here’s a list of the main seminars that will be on offer this year.
Seminar session 1
Our first set of seminars are designed to lay a foundation. They will address issues churches have in raising leaders and offer wisdom to churches of all shapes and sizes.
Raising Up and Training Elders
As part of his ministry with 9Marks, Mark Dever has done extensive thinking about raising and training elders for ministry in the local church.
Raising Leaders: Volunteers
Ray Evans will unpack what it looks like to raise up volunteer leaders in the church.

This seminar will explore some of the encouragements and challenges of being married to a full-time pastor.
Seminar session 2
Our second set of seminars are designed to be much more practical, looking at the nuts and bolts of leadership. These seminars offer insights into specific leadership challenges and scenarios.
Ministry, Marriage and Family

Pastors are trained to preach and teach. But how do you start leading ministry teams? Ray will share wisdom gleaned from more than 30 years in local church ministry.
Setting up Small Groups
Liam is responsible for this task in one of FIEC’s largest churches. He will explore what a good homegroup structure looks like – whatever size your church is.
How do you lead in a team full of leaders? Johnny will share his experience of looking after multiple church leaders during his ministry in Enfield.
Raising Up and Growing Preachers
Mark will share his wisdom on developing and training preachers, explaining how he coaches preachers and reviews sermons with his team.
