Finding a way
Bookings for The Hub Conference are now open! Trevor Archer tells us why this conference is such an important one for our Fellowship.
When I began my role as FIEC Training Director in January 2011, one of the key things that I wanted to get established was a clear route into ministry for men and women from our churches. It has been thrilling to see this welcomed with such enthusiasm by so many churches and individuals. I am particularly indebted to a small group of men and women who have met several times to discuss how we move from an idea and vision into something that makes a difference on the ground.
Bringing it together
As a result, January 2013 will see the launch of The Hub Conference. This will be an annual conference where those just looking at vocational ministry and those who have just started training for ministry, might come together under one roof for Bible teaching, seminars, advice and support. As an integral part of this, we will have a team of experienced gospel workers available at The Hub, not only to teach seminars, but to be on-hand for one-to-one consultations.
We want The Hub to enable us to walk with individuals through training and eventually into ministry. Combined with grants from the FIEC Training Fund, the conference will make the route into ministry much simpler for many individuals, allowing us to better address a whole range of ministry needs; pastors, church planters, evangelists, women’s workers, children & youth workers, cross-cultural and international workers.
Working in partnership
We see The Hub Conference as a clear way of supporting our churches in the development and training of those the Lord is raising up from their congregations. People can only attend with the support of their church leaders as we are very keen that everyone understands the primacy of the local church in identifying and setting aside gospel workers. The Hub is here to serve and partner with the local church, and in that regard we hope that churches will demonstrate their support by providing half the conference fee for those who attend from their fellowship.
So if The Hub sounds like the sort of thing that would be of benefit to you – whether you’re in the early stages of exploring ministry or if you’re further down the path of training – then chat to your church leaders about attending. If you’re a church leader, please think and pray about members of your church who might genuinely benefit from this conference. And let’s all pray that the Lord would use The Hub Conference to bless his church here in the UK – and to the ends of the earth.
The Hub Conference will take place 18th to 20th January at the De Vere Venue in Harben, near Milton Keynes. Find out more and book online here. Brochures are being sent to FIEC churches this week, but please contact us if you need additional copies.
