We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced youth leader with a heart to help young people grow in their faith and walk with God and with a heart to reach those without a living faith in our community. The role will involve both reaching out to local schools and working within the church. The successful applicant will join a supportive staff team which seeks to facilitate and enable the ministries within Above Bar Church to run smoothly by providing administrative, pastoral and practical support. The role will include appropriate, funded training the exact nature to be agreed after the probationary period is passed and could include an MA or theological qualification. The Church Above Bar is a city-wide evangelical church community seeking to bring a whole life gospel ethos across the generations within the church family, across the city and beyond. Our church family is diverse and covers a wide range of ages and over 30 nationalities. We have a strong commitment to team ministry both in our leadership structure and in our staffing. We enjoy good relationships with other local churches.

Personal Qualities/Temperament:

● a prayerful, committed Christian with evangelical convictions and good biblical understanding

● passionate about spending time with, teaching and discipling young people

● has a demonstrable love and concern for young people

● enthusiastically affirms our church's basis of faith and is supportive of our vision, values and practices

● has a strong commitment to team working and relational styles of ministry

● creative and servant-hearted, able to co-operate and communicate with others of all responsibility levels

● willingness to be committed to the Above Bar Church family

● possesses personal integrity

● has an open and teachable attitude, with a desire to continue to develop and a desire to grow in character as well as gifting.


● is gifted in communicating the Bible effectively with young people

● a strong commitment to youth ministry

● experience in youth ministry, demonstrating a deep understanding of youth work which may include formal qualifications

● have experience in leading teams

● able to lead, motivate and organise a team

● able to take responsibility for existing areas of ministry

● a self-starter

● a good team player

● able to delegate, prioritise, plan and complete tasks on time

● committed to training people for ministry

● able to implement change

● a personable and effective communicator who is able to handle challenging interactions in a godly manner

● able to operate a personal computer, standard office software (MS Office), and access the internet.
