Avenue Community Church is an independent church (affiliated to the FIEC) based in the Clarendon Park area of Leicester.

We have five core values that shape everything we do in our life together:

  • God-centred
  • Bible-based
  • A loving family
  • Reaching out
  • With everyone involved

We are looking to appoint a youth and families worker in summer 2021 who will help us grow in how we disciple children, young people and families – both those already part of Avenue and those in the community around us.

The role may include aspects of the following:

  • Coordinating our youth and families work as a church and working with our volunteer leaders
  • Coordinating the weekly running of our children’s and youth groups – both midweek groups and our Sunday clubs
  • Planning for and delivering Bible teaching for our children and teenagers
  • Coordinating one-to-ones with teenagers and encouraging them to get serving and involved in the life of the church
  • Organising occasional youth services and family-friendly services
  • Coordinating our outreach to local families – e.g. Christmas, Easter and summer events
  • Encouraging, equipping and partnering with parents in how they can disciple their children
  • Working closely with the elders and the other members of our staff team

Required Skills

The candidate will:

  • have a clear love for God, his word and his people
  • have a clear love for children, young people and parents
  • be teachable and able to teach others with integrity
  • be pastoral in applying biblical principles
  • be able to work in a team
