New Life Church Middlesbrough is a growing church in the East side of Middlesbrough. We are a local church for local people, and yet we have been blessed recently to seen the nations join us! We are a Gospel-centred church with a real heart to reach out with the good news of Jesus into our local community. We are currently working in a number of council estates and we would love to have an even greater impact in our local community. To reach this goal, we are looking to expand our staff team. In particular, we are looking to employ someone for a one-year training programme. This role will be varied and will provide experience of many different aspects of ministry, but will include a strong emphasis on outreach into the local community. Roles and Responsibilities 

1. Training 

  • External training through Medhurst Ministries 
  • Any other reading and development as assigned 
  • Working alongside and learning from current staff and volunteers
  • Opportunities for further development and training, if discussed with the pastor.

2. Community outreach programmes 

  • Helping with some of our existing work with children and families, including being involved with our weekly kids club, family fun days, and holiday clubs. 
  • Developing our schools’ ministry – potentially helping with assemblies, and facilitating lunchtime clubs. 
  • Working with external Christian organisations to build relationships in the local community and share the gospel 
  • Meeting with people from the local community and providing ongoing practical and spiritual support to them. 

3. Discipleship 

  • Doing pastoral visitation 
  • Leading bible studies with non-believers and new Christians 
  • Teaching and discipling new believers to grow in their faith 

4. Other tasks as necessary

Required Skills


- You must meet the character qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 

- A love for the Lord Jesus and His Gospel 

- A commitment to the local church and serving God’s people

- A desire to see God’s kingdom grow, and a heart to work with other Christians to make that happen

- Be able to work as part of a team, but also have the initiative and drive of a self-starter

- A willingness to learn and try new things 

- Experience being part of, and serving in, a local church It is an occupational requirement (in accordance with the Equality Act 2010) that the applicant is a genuine Christian with a personal, lived-out faith in Jesus Christ. They must be able to agree with the Church’s statement of faith, and be willing to live as a member of New Life Church in addition to their professional requirements.
