Eden Baptist Church is a Reformed Baptist church in the centre of Cambridge.  In addition to many families and long-term Cambridge residents, we are also delighted to minister to internationals, those passing through Cambridge and, of course, students.

Each year we welcome undergraduates and graduate students studying at Anglia Ruskin and at Cambridge University.  Our student programme is exciting, busy and diverse as we look to evangelise, disciple and train up those who God sends our way.  We work closely with the Christian Unions at both universities, and have strong links with UCCF.

As our current Student Worker prepares to head off to Theological College at the end of this academic year, we are looking to appoint a new Student Worker (and Pastoral Trainee) to join the team at Eden from September 2021.

This is a special post, usually for a term of 4 years, funded by a grant from a charitable trust and monies from our own Friends of Eden fund.

It is an opportunity to work under the leadership of the Assistant Pastor to make the Eden student ministry as faithful, vibrant and effective as it can be under God and to be trained for pastoral ministry in the future. It is a ‘pre-theological-college’ position at about the same level as a UCCF CU staffworker.

We are looking for a man with a passion for discipling students, involving one-to-one work with male students as well as overseeing and helping to lead the wider student ministry.

There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the role-holder be a Christian whose beliefs are fully aligned with the beliefs of our church and who is eligible for church membership.  Our Statement of Faith ‘a Firm Foundation’ is available on our website  We also hold to the FIEC's statements on marriage and the roles of women in ministry:

Required Skills

The successful candidate will be a man of conviction, character, competencies, experience with the gifting, potential and desire to be prepared for future pastoral ministry.  This is a role designed for someone who is on a journey towards such ministry.

A full job description and person description is available on request.
