This post is part of our continuing commitment to provide pre-seminary training for those called to full-time pastoral ministry. Our current Trainee Minister finishes this summer and finances have become available to appoint a new trainee minister.
The Trainee Minister will be involved in a variety of ministry areas and responsibilities across the church that will further their experience, develop their skills and deepen their theological training. They will benefit from being a member of a large staff team (currently 11) with direct mentoring from one of our pastors. The staff team meet for coffee 11.30-12.00 every day and have lunch together on Mondays where we discuss a book we are reading together. Twice a term the staff team has a week of prayer, reflection and training. It is also expected that the Trainee Minister will undertake an external training course (Biblical Counselling UK, Crosslands, Living Leadership).
In addition to general training and ministry experience, the Trainee Minister will also have some specific responsibilities relating to City Church’s North Manchester Facility. These include:
Responsibility for the facilities at City Church’s North Manchester Facility based in Newton Heath. This will include: opening and closing of the building, room preparation cleaning and reset, administration of bookings and ensuring the maintenance of the building is attended to.
Leading a weekly prayer and devotion gathering at the North Manchester Facility on Sunday mornings.
Leading a weekly midweek children’s group aimed at children from the local primary schools. This will involve preparation and delivery of Bible teaching and activities, as well as coordinating with volunteers.

You will need to be able to declare wholehearted acceptance of the FIEC doctrinal basis.
City Church Manchester
City Church Manchester is a family - a group of people from a huge range of ages and backgrounds. What brings us together is a love for Manchester, a love for its people and most importantly a love for Jesus. We want to put him at the centre of all that we do.
We’re committed to teaching the ‘gospel’ - put simply, the good news about Jesus! That he came into the world to make God known to us, and through his death to bring us forgiveness of sins and restoration to the relationship with God that we were made for. We believe that this news is incredible! We want to be a church that is fundamentally shaped by the gospel, and are seeking to become more like Jesus in all areas of life. Because the gospel is the best news that anyone could hear, we want to share it with all - in Manchester, the North-West and beyond!
