This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in the life and work of an FIEC church in the western suburbs of Swindon as an intern for the academic year starting September 2019 but open to negotiation.
Freshbrook Church has been part of the FIEC since it began 36 years ago and within the FIEC family we are seeking to be committed to the ministry of the Word and Spirit.
We are also part of a network of churches in Swindon called Good News for Swindon and interns may have the opportunity to partner with other churches and with the combined youth events run by GN4S.
The posts would be ideal for men or women who would like to gain experience of serving in a church environment and engaging in the local community to reach them with the Gospel.
Depending on your interests and gifts there will be opportunities to get involved in children’s ministry through our Sunday morning programme (Urban Saints), youth work, and schools work (in partnership with Swindon Youth for Christ and our Open the Book teams), to help lead in worship and ministry at our evening services, to visit the elderly, and to help with pastoral care. There will also be opportunity to help with practical jobs around the church.
We will provide you with an in-house mentor and fund appropriate training during your time with us.
We will provide accommodation (food and board) and pay expenses related to your role with us. Having your own transport will be a distinct bonus as one of our host homes is in a nearby village.
We will also be looking for a reference from your current Church as well as a character reference.
You will need to be able to declare wholehearted acceptance of the FIEC doctrinal basis and agreement with the FIEC ethos statements.
