Harper Church is a growing multi-national FIEC church family which meets in Glasgow. On an average Sunday we have 190 people of all ages from 20 different nations and one third of our congregation are from Islamic backgrounds. We would like to expand our team by recruiting two church apprentices.
You will spend a year serving the church and growing in character to the glory of God to prepare you for a lifetime of Christian service.
The year will give you training and experience across the breadth of church work whilst allowing you to specialise in one area of interest (e.g. International work, Student ministry, Music ministry). You will spend time with the Pastors and staff team and will learn from their experience and will have plenty of opportunity to develop and grow in your walk with the Lord Jesus Christ and in your service to Him and the church. During your year of service, we want to encourage you in 4 key ways.
1. To grow in Character. We will link you up with a mentor who will encourage you in your personal walk with Jesus, will pray with you and for you. You will also have continual mentorship throughout the year from the staff team. You will be part of a growth group were you can encourage and be encouraged as you live together in the community.
2. To grow in your Theology. We will encourage you to do some structured study and we will also give you helpful reading plans to encourage you in your theological thinking, with regular team meetings to discuss and apply truth.
3. To grow in your practical service. We want to give you plenty of opportunity to serve the church family. As said above this will be across various areas of church life, though your apprenticeship will have a specific focus which will be determined based on your skills, abilities and interests.
4. To grow in your everyday living. We want you to grow in a way that you know what it is to live out your faith in everyday world. We don’t want this to be a year where you lock yourself away, but become more passionate about making Jesus known to those you live amongst.
You will need to be a committed Christian with a heart for serving God and the church. The apprenticeship is self-funded.
Applications can only be considered from those who are UK citizens or who otherwise have a right to work in the UK.
You will need to be able to declare wholehearted acceptance of the FIEC doctrinal basis and agreement with the FIEC ethos statements.
