Abbeyfield Community Church is seeking a new pastor following the retirement of our previous minister.
About the church
We are close to the town centre, in Colchester, North Essex, meeting in our own church building,
have 30+ members, average Sunday morning attendance of 40, with fortnightly evening Communion or prayer services. We have a Sunday School with crèche facilities and age-appropriate study for the under-10s; midweek, prayer meeting, home groups, Friday evening clubs for under 11s and 16s, and a monthly ladies’ meeting.
Our church is a Bible-believing family that seeks to put God at the centre, demonstrate love to one another, the community and the world around us.
Several years ago we believed that God was calling us to reach out to the Abbeyfield development on the edge of town where over 3000 homes were being built. We bought a new house as the manse, and our pastor and his family moved there. Outreach here has been a major focus and, despite plans for a new church building on the development not going ahead, we continue to seek God for the way forward.
We are looking for a pastor who will
* Deepen our church’s walk with the Lord – through: preaching and teaching the Word on Sundays and other times, encouraging, guiding and releasing others to use their gifts and grow spiritually, leading us in discipleship and pastoral work and in caring for those of the fellowship in need.
* Head up our outreach into the local community – through his own example of godly living and witness in the community, facilitating and mobilising the church to step out in sharing the message of the Gospel by word and deed.
Applications can only be considered from those who are UK citizens or who otherwise have a right to work in the UK.
You will need to be able to declare wholehearted acceptance of the FIEC doctrinal basis and agreement with the FIEC ethos statements.
