Above Bar Church is a vibrant evangelical church in the centre of the city. We are seeking to appoint a minister to join our ministry team and be part of the leadership team of Above Bar Church.
Alongside our central commitment to Bible teaching and corporate worship we have a vision to be agents of God's blessing across our city, in the wider church, and across the world.
The primary responsibility of this post holder will be to develop a joined up approach to discipleship across the ages. The post holder will have a significant role in our ministry to families and be a member both of the pastoral care team and the prayer team. Preaching is not a major component of this role but the candidate will need to demonstrate a strong biblical understanding and their ability to teach.
The ideal candidate will have considerable experience in working with people whether in a church-based role, teaching, counselling or a caring profession. However, it is not essential to have had previous experience of employment in a church. We expect this will be a full-time role, but depending on age and experience we are open to considering part-time.

Above Bar Church
Above Bar Church is a large city centre church in the heart of Southampton. It's a community of God's people who are committed to loving God, following Jesus, and sharing hope. It has been a Bible-centred witness to Christ on the main thoroughfare for 140 years, and is currently in the process of refreshing its building.
The congregations comprise people of a wide range of ages, backgrounds and ethnicities. There are thriving children's, youth, and student ministries. Over recent years, we have developed an exciting social action ministry among the needy of Southampton, which includes a Christians Against Poverty debt centre as well as Sunday and midweek groups.
Mission, both local and international, is a vital part of our DNA. Locally, we are developing missional communities; internationally, the church supports 14 individuals, couples and families working in a wide range of contexts and ministries.
