JREC has been a place of worship and beacon of God’s love for just over 40 year with a history of our forbears serving the Lord in the neighbourhood since 1870.

Following the recent, sudden, early, home-call of our Pastor of 20 years we are prayerfully seeking a new man to share with us in God’s work here in the multi-cultural area of Handsworth, Birmingham. Our regular congregation of approximately 40 adults and children reflects people of South-Asian, West Indian and White British backgrounds.

JREC is an independent evangelical church, affiliated to the FIEC, but welcoming applications from those who have not previously ministered in FIEC churches and are in agreement with the statement of faith. We have a strong reliance on the Bible as the inspired word of God, coupled with a desire to see the daily workings and influence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Required Skills

We are seeking a man who will preach and teach to build up those who are already in Christ, whilst also presenting the good news message of salvation to those who are, as yet, not saved. JREC thrives with a Pastor who has a collaborative, inclusive style of leadership, encouraging participation from the congregation at all levels. We are keen to develop spiritual outreach to, and practical support for, the community of Handsworth that God has placed us in and are looking for someone to lead and inspire us in this.

We enjoy a relatively informal style of ‘church’ - traditional and contemporary worship, times of sharing and praying together within services, informal times each week after the service when our tea and coffee is often accompanied by samosas and other delicious food! The preaching of God’s word is, however, always central in this!

Salary is dependant on experience.

If you consider that God may be calling you to us, please email Mr Chris Blunt via [email protected] by 31.7.22 providing a CV and brief indication of why you are applying for the role.
