David Platts (Trustee and Secretary)

Hamilton Road Evangelical Church is in Whitstable, a small but vibrant costal town.  Its harbour is used by inshore fishing boats and the area specialises in water sports.  It has become very popular with holiday makers and second homebuyers.  Many people commute to work in London.

The church is in a residential area, close to centre of town and to the mainline railway station. Nearby streets have terraced houses and there are several new housing developments within a mile.  We have a three-bedroom bungalow to use as a manse which is currently leased to one of our families.

We have a small congregation and just 20 members including two young families, but most of the members are retired.  During the lockdowns we successfully used technology to maintain the fellowship and recommenced meetings at the church as soon as regulations allowed.

Our links with the local community include a parent and toddler group, a Sunday school and a weekly lunch club for elderly folk which is still well attended.

We are seeking the Lord’s guidance as we actively look for a Pastor to take the church forward.

Required Skills

We are looking for Godly man who can provide Biblical leadership and consistent ministry, preaching and teaching at the Sunday services and Bible studies.

  • Will be a caring Pastor to both young and old
  • Will lead members into a deeper understanding and relationship with Christ through Bible teaching.
  • Is an evangelistic-minded man, who would be keen to build on our existing links and develop local opportunities to share the Gospel
  • Is in full agreement with our Basis of Faith and CIO documentation.
