Fernwood Community Church was planted by Newark Evangelical Church in 2018. It has grown into a thriving fellowship that is actively reaching out into the surrounding area. Fernwood is an expanding modern village located on the outskirts of Newark. There are weekly gatherings on Sunday mornings in the village hall and an increasing number of activities during the week. The church is seeking a full-time pastor to take forward the work that has begun, and help lead the process of becoming an independent church.

Required Skills

We are looking for a man with consistent Christ-like character, a pastoral heart and a commitment to reaching the lost, who already has experience in gospel ministry. His love for the Lord, His Word and His people will be shared through a gifted teaching and preaching ministry, and through personal and corporate prayer.

There is an expectation that the pastor and his family would live in the village of Fernwood and seek to engage with the local community in everyday life, building natural relationships through which the gospel may be shared.

He would lead a team of able lay leaders, helping to further develop their gifts while also equipping the wider body for works of service. He would also be able to develop and communicate a clear strategic vision for the church, whilst maintaining links with our sending church in Newark. Initially the pastor would join the existing eldership team of Newark Evangelical Church until a separate eldership can be appointed for Fernwood Community Church.
