The Wee Café is a small social enterprise that is owned and run by 20schemesRetrain CIC, located in Birdiehouse, Edinburgh.  20SchemesRetrain is a Christian back to work employability project, our mission is to provide the opportunity for believers within our schemes to be discipled, trained, and enabled to use their gifts for God’s glory through employment or self-employment. We want to see people in meaningful long-term work where they can glorify God. 

We are looking for a café manager who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the café in Burdiehouse. The purpose of this role is to manage the café and optimise profit, whilst remaining consistent with our Christian ethos and community focus. This would include managing all aspects of the daily running of the café including but not limited to; food preparation, preparing hot and cold drinks including various types of coffee, stock management, dealing with customers, managing staff and ensuring it’s smooth running and proper administration. Please note that one reference must be from your church minister or leader to endorse your live and active Christian faith and commitment

Number of hours and salary is negotiable.

Required Skills

It is vital that the cafe must present a friendly and welcoming environment in which customers and volunteers alike feel comfortable, enjoying excellent service. While receiving guidance and support from senior management and the Directors of 20schemesRetrain, the successful development of the Cafe? will depend to a large extent on the imagination, initiative and energy of the Manager. A combination of flexibility, enthusiasm, innovation and sound organisational skills is essential. 

Prior hospitality experience is preferred but not essential.
