Cowplain Evangelical Church (CEC) is a growing independent evangelical church, located in the south of England. Due to our growth, we are now looking to add to our team by appointing an Assistant Pastor with responsibility for fellowship, connection and care at CEC. We are looking for someone with a heart for people who has a desire to see people changed by the Gospel. You will be working with teams of volunteers as well as working alongside our Senior Pastor and Eldership team. It's an exciting time to join us with lots of opportunities for further growth.

Required Skills

The role is split into three areas of responsibility:

1. To oversee and develop all the small groups.

  • A programme of small groups already exists, but we believe there is much scope for development both in the areas of discipleship and fellowship.
  • To provide training for all small group leaders.
  • To look to connect men at CEC.

2. To oversee and develop the pastoral care.

  • To take on the responsibility for pastoral care and develop our Care Team.
  • To set up and develop various counselling ministries to meet the needs of the community.
  • To encourage and support those more senior in age.

3. To oversee the integration process and connecting people.

  • To develop a strategy to connect and integrate people.
  • To set up meaningful fellowship times for the CEC family.
  • To look at intentional pathways for people to grow and to serve.

We expect the Assistant Pastor to have a passion for Christ, a commitment to the gospel and making it known, a love for the Bible, and a desire to encourage and build up God’s people. You would join the existing eldership and function as an elder of CEC. It is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a committed and practicing Evangelical Christian.

For an application pack please email our HR Deacon, Amanda Simmons on [email protected] If you would like to have a telephone conversation before you apply, please contact our Pastor, Rev Phill Brown, on the church office number: 023 9226 2188.
