Assistant Pastor

Cornerstone Church Kingston is a growing independent Church affiliated to the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (F.I.E.C) and to Co-Mission. We are looking to recruit an Assistant Pastor to join the existing staff team.

We’re looking for someone who: fits the Biblical characteristics of an elder laid out in 1 Timothy 3, has a gift and passion for teaching the Bible in a variety of settings, has a heart for music ministry and youth work, and who is in agreement with the Cornerstone statement of faith and with the FIEC’s position papers on church unity, women’s ministry and same-sex marriage. The individual should also have a passion for evangelism and a willingness to think creatively about how we can engage our community with the good news of the gospel.

The individual would share the pastoral responsibilities of the church in occasional preaching, discipleship and pastoral care. However, we’re keen for the individual to focus their time on two key ministry areas in line with their gifting:

Music

The individual ought to have gifts and experience in music and an understanding of PA so that they can effectively: serve alongside our existing music and PA teams and work with the elder in charge of music to equip the existing musicians and to grow this ministry. We would also encourage the individual to use their musical gifts in outreach and evangelism.

Youth (11-18)

The individual ought to have gifts and experience in youth work in order to: work with the existing team in order to disciple the young people in the Church. This would include: attending the Friday night meetings, sharing responsibility for Bible teaching and administration and working with the elder in charge of youth to equip and train leaders.

Salary, Hours & Start Date.

Hours: this is a full-time position.

Salary: to be arranged.

Start date: Flexible.

Term: 3 years with an annual review and the option of extending by mutual consent.
