About us

Union Hall Evangelical is a diverse, city centre church with a long history of gospel witness in the area. Our church’s location and history gives us many gospel opportunities, e.g. with schools, students, local residents and those from overseas. Our Sunday congregation is currently 80-100, with a membership of around 50 and is made up of people from many different nationalities, ages and backgrounds. Manchester city centre is booming right now with new apartment and university buildings going up all around our church building. We are constantly praying, thinking and working to see how we can make the most of these opportunities. We are members of both the FIEC and the Northwest Gospel Partnership.

About the role

This would be a full-time temporary training role for someone looking for pastoral experience in an urban setting. The term would be 2 years, with a possibility of a 3rd by mutual consent. The individual would share the pastoral burden of the church, in preaching, teaching and pastoral care. They would also take on one or two specific ministry responsibilities in line with their gifting and calling. There is currently a particular need amongst children and young people within the church and so involvement in this ministry at some level would be expected.

Required Skills

We’re looking for someone who: Fits the Biblical characteristics of an elder laid out in 1 Timothy 3. Is gifted and passionate in teaching the Bible clearly and faithfully in a range of settings. Has a heart for evangelism and discipleship. Is humble, teachable and ready to learn. Is comfortable ministering in a multi-cultural setting. Is in wholehearted agreement with the church’s statement of faith, doctrinal basis and with the FIEC’s position papers on church unity, women’s ministry and same-sex marriage

We’re primarily looking for someone with some formal theological training already, though for the right candidate we are open to discussion on part-time training alongside the role.
